Question 17

17. Do have a person in mind to sign for you should you become disabled?

Many estate planning experts no longer advise distributing assets outright to heirs. Today's society is quite different from the 'Leave It To Beaver' and 'Walton Family' days. Just when a major distribution of your hard earned assets would occur- it could be partially or totally lost if the heir is being sued, going through a divorce, or becoming bankrupt or just happens to be one of the last of the big time spenders. Keeping assets in trust for the benefit of heirs may be in some cases a safer and better strategy for many families today. Work with a team of estate planning professionals for the best and safest plan for your family.
